This encounter is a boss battle against Alphonse. He will be accompanied by a Vangal if the "Extra Enemies" difficulty setting is enabled. He is weak to Holy Damage, so it may be a good idea to bring a Templar or wait until you unlock Holy Bolt from Kyrie's Marked class. Much of Alphonse's move set is centered around inflicting Debuffs, so the Mass Barrier ability from Alchemystic is very strong for this encounter.
